PE warm-up wheel

18 exercises

About this wheel

Spin the wheel to pick the next warm-up exercise for the whole class. The list has 18 moves, such as high knees, arm circles, lunges, side shuffles, inchworms and a light jog, with a mix of leg, arm and full-body exercises.

PE teachers use it at the start of class to run a warm-up of 5 or 6 spins, 30 seconds per move. Coaches use it before practice, and parents use it before a family walk or a trip to the park. Spinning at random keeps the warm-up different every day, and students stay curious about the next move. Let a different student press spin each time.

The mode is Allow repeats, so a move can come up twice. Choose Everyone once to do each exercise a single time. Add your own moves in the list box, one per line. Press Fullscreen to put the wheel on a gym screen, and the Space bar spins it from across the room.

Questions

How long should each warm-up move last?

About 30 seconds. Six spins make a 3-minute warm-up, which suits the start of a 30-minute class.

Can I remove moves my class cannot do?

Yes. Delete lines such as Bear crawls or Lunges from the list box. Save to My Wheels keeps the shorter list in this browser.

Can I run it from across the gym?

Yes. Press Fullscreen on a projector or screen, then press the Space bar on the keyboard to spin.

Is it right for young children?

Yes. The moves are simple, low-impact exercises. Skipping, marching and a light jog suit early primary years, and the teacher shows each move first.
