Superpower wheel

30 superpowers

About this wheel

Spin the wheel to pick one of 30 superpowers, such as flight, invisibility, super speed and talking to animals. Each power is a plain, general idea, so children can invent their own hero, name and costume around it.

Use it as a random superpower generator for story starters: spin once and write what a character does with the power on a rainy Monday. In drama, students act out their power while others guess it. For art, each child draws a hero using their power and adds a speech bubble. Families can spin at dinner and ask everyone how they would use the power to help a neighbor.

Spin twice to give a hero two powers, or spin once and then once more for a weakness the hero must work around. The mode is Allow repeats. Choose Everyone once to give each student a different power, and use Fullscreen to show the wheel on the board.

Questions

How do I use this for story starters?

Spin once, then write three sentences: who the hero is, what the power does and one problem it solves. A 10-minute timer works well for a class.

Can each student get a different power?

Yes. Choose Everyone once under the list. The wheel holds 30 powers, so a class of up to 30 gets no repeats.

Are the powers based on any characters?

No. Each entry is a general idea, such as flight or invisibility, so children make up their own heroes.

Can I add my own powers?

Yes. Type one power per line in the list box, for example "Making rain gardens grow". Save to My Wheels keeps your list in this browser.
