Turn two cards at a time and keep the pairs. 12 to 36 cards, one or two players, a daily layout, original symbols or word-and-definition pairs, with your best moves and time.
Memory Match is a card matching game: all the cards start face down, you turn over two at a time, and you keep a pair only when the two cards match. If they do not match, both turn back after a short pause and you try again, remembering what you saw. A move is one attempt, two cards turned over, whether it matches or not. A 4 by 4 board has 16 cards, which is 8 pairs, so a perfect game takes exactly 8 moves, one for each pair, and every miss adds a move. The game is over when the last pair is found. With one player, the score is your moves and your time, and the clock starts when you turn the first card. The board never changes during a game: a card you have seen stays where it was, so the skill is remembering positions.
There are four sizes: 4 by 3 (12 cards, 6 pairs), 4 by 4 (16 cards, 8 pairs), 6 by 4 (24 cards, 12 pairs) and 6 by 6 (36 cards, 18 pairs). The default faces are 20 original symbols drawn in this tool, such as a purple circle, an orange arrow or a blue star. Each has its own shape and colour name, so no two pairs look alike and a screen reader can say what a face-up card shows. Words mode turns the pairs into a word and its definition, for example a card reading a word and another with the meaning, and you match them. The words and definitions come from Princeton WordNet 3.1, chosen from a list of common words. It is limited to the 4 by 3 and 4 by 4 boards because definitions need room to be read. A word is 3 to 9 letters, a definition is 10 to 44 characters and never contains its own word, so the match is never given away.
With two players on one screen, Player 1 starts. A player who finds a match scores a pair and goes again. A player who misses leaves both cards face up for about a second, then the turn passes to the other player. Matched cards carry the number of the player who won them as well as a colour, and the player with the most pairs at the end wins; equal pairs are a tie. Two-player games do not change your saved bests. The Daily layout is a 4 by 4 board with symbol faces, made from the date on your device, such as 2026-10-15, plus the game name. Everyone with the same date gets the same card order, so you can compare moves and time. The date is checked again when you return to the tab. A daily counts once a day toward your daily streak. A random layout is new each time you press New game.
Click or tap a card to turn it over. With a keyboard, Tab onto the cards, use the arrow keys to move between cards, Home and End to jump to the first and last, and Enter or Space to turn the card you are on. While a wrong pair is showing, the cards are locked and clicks are ignored, so you cannot turn a third card by accident. The cards turn with a short 3D flip. If your device is set to reduce motion, they change face without turning. A face-down card is announced only as face down, never with its face, and each turn, match and miss is announced in a live region. Each card is a button with a plain text name, such as Card 6, row 2 column 2, matched, orange arrow.
Use the first card of a turn to explore: turn cards you have not seen yet, so a miss still teaches you something. Once you know where a card's partner is, turn that card second. Work through the board in a fixed order, such as left to right and top to bottom, so you do not turn the same card twice for nothing. The game is saved as you play, and the last 12 boards are kept. Your best moves and best time for each size and each kind of face are saved in this browser, along with the daily streak. The time pauses while the tab is hidden. There is no sound, no undo and no move limit, and nothing is sent anywhere.
Choose 2 players. Player 1 turns two cards. A match scores a pair and the same player goes again. A miss leaves both cards up for about a second, then Player 2 plays. The player with more pairs wins, and equal pairs are a tie.
One move per pair: 6 on a 4 by 3 board, 8 on 4 by 4, 12 on 6 by 4 and 18 on 6 by 6. A move is two cards turned over, so any miss adds to that. Your best moves for each size are saved in this browser.
Words mode pairs a word with its definition. You turn a card showing, for example, a word such as abandon and look for the card with its meaning. It is available on the 4 by 3 and 4 by 4 boards, and the definitions come from Princeton WordNet 3.1. Words never appear inside their own definition.
The two cards stay face up for about a second so you can see them, and clicks are ignored until they turn back. This also stops a third card being turned by a double tap. The wait is the same with reduced motion on.
The Daily layout is 4 by 4 with symbol faces. It is made from the date on your device, such as 2026-10-15, plus the game name, so everyone with that date gets the same card order. Only the first finished daily of each day counts toward your streak.
No. The game runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded. Your board in progress, your options, your best moves and your best times are saved in this browser's storage and stay on this device. The page counts visits with Google Analytics, never your cards or moves.
