Combine PDFs in any order. Nothing is uploaded.
The merged file follows the list on screen, from top to bottom. Drag a row, or use its up and down buttons, to move it. The order is read when you press Merge, so what you see is what you get. You can add the same PDF twice if a cover sheet has to appear at the start and the end. Each file keeps its own page sizes: an A4 file followed by a US Letter file gives a PDF whose pages are A4 and then Letter, and a page that was rotated stays rotated. Pages are copied as they are, not resized or redrawn. Merging puts whole files one after another. It does not interleave pages, for example odd pages from one scan and even pages from another. To reorder single pages after merging, use a page-organising tool on the merged file.
Each row has a pages box. Leave it blank to use every page. Type 1-3,8- to take pages 1, 2, 3 and then page 8 to the end. Pages are used in the order you type them, so 3,1 puts page 3 before page 1, and a page typed twice is used once. A number past the end of the file, such as 9 in a 5-page PDF, is shown as a problem under the box, and Merge stays off until you fix it. The summary under the list counts only the pages you selected, for example 3 files and 27 pages.
Page content, text, images and page sizes are copied. Bookmarks, also called the outline, are dropped, so a long report that had a clickable contents panel loses it. Fillable form fields may stop working, and their boxes may look different. Files attached to a page are not carried over. Web links stay as links. A link that jumps to another page keeps working only when that page is in the merge and the link points straight at it; other in-file links are removed. When you use only some pages of a file, the other pages do not appear in the merged file, and links to them are removed. Parts of a left-out page, such as a picture or font that the PDF stores once for several pages, or an attached file, can still be inside the file where special software could find them. If a left-out page is confidential, run the result through Compress PDF, which rebuilds every page as a picture. If you need a form to stay fillable or links to behave, open the merged file and check it before you send it. A password-protected PDF is refused with a message and is never unlocked or merged, because this tool does not remove passwords. Remove the password in your PDF reader first, then add the file again.
The work is done by code running in this tab. There is no upload step and no server that receives your PDFs. The page counts visits with Google Analytics, using rough groups such as 1 to 10 MB, never a file name, a page or an exact size. Because everything runs on your device, its memory sets the limits: up to 50 files in one go, about 500 MB in total on a computer or 150 MB on a phone. A single PDF over 200 MB or 1000 pages gets a warning before it is merged, and a result over 1000 pages is flagged as slow on phones. Files are read one at a time to stay inside those limits.
No. A PDF that asks for a password is refused with a message, and Merge stays off until you remove it from the list. This tool does not try to unlock files. Remove the password in your PDF reader, save a copy, and add that copy instead.
No. The merge runs in your browser, in this tab, so no server receives your PDFs. The page counts visits with Google Analytics, using rough groups such as 1 to 10 MB, and never sends a file name or the content of a page.
Not here. This tool accepts PDF files only, so a JPG or PNG is turned away with a message. To combine photos or scans into one PDF, use Images to PDF first, then bring the resulting PDF back here to join it with others.
No. Pages are copied with their own size and rotation. An A4 file (595 by 842 points) and a US Letter file (612 by 792 points) stay A4 and Letter in the merged PDF, so the page sizes can differ inside one file.

Yes. Type a range such as 1-3,8- in the pages box of that file. Blank means every page. Pages are used in the order you type them, so 3,1 gives page 3 and then page 1.
