Generate schema markup (JSON-LD) for your page

Pick a type, fill in a few lines and get a ready JSON-LD script block, with checks against what Google asks for. Nothing is uploaded.

How it works

  1. Choose a schema type
  2. Fill in the lines, one name and value each
  3. Copy the JSON-LD block and paste it into your page

How the schema markup generator works

A schema markup generator writes the JSON-LD that tells search engines what a page is about, and this one builds it from short lines you type, such as headline: How to repot a plant. Pick one of ten schema.org types: Article, BlogPosting, Product, FAQPage, Organization, LocalBusiness, Person, BreadcrumbList, Event or HowTo. Each line is a property name, a colon and a value. Names are not case sensitive and common aliases work, so published, datePublished and Date Published are the same. A line that does not start with a known name continues the previous value. The result is a script block of type application/ld+json that you paste into the page, and the same JSON on its own. Clear the box to get an example for the type you chose.

A worked example

The page opens with an Article of 10 lines: headline, description, image, author, authorUrl, published, modified, publisher, publisherLogo and url. The author and authorUrl lines become one author object with a name and a url, and the publisher and its logo become a publisher object. The dates 2026-03-04T08:00:00+00:00 and 2026-03-06T09:30:00+00:00 become datePublished and dateModified. All ten properties are set, so the table shows no required or recommended property missing. For a Product, the lines price: 12.50, currency: eur and availability: in stock become an Offer with price 12.50, priceCurrency EUR and availability https://schema.org/InStock.

What Google shows today

The checks come from Google Search Central. Article has no required properties, and Google recommends author, dates, headline and image. Product needs a name and at least one of offers, review or aggregateRating. LocalBusiness requires name and address, and Event requires name, start date and a location with an address. BreadcrumbList needs at least two items. Two types are different. Google's changelog says FAQ rich results stopped appearing in Search on 7 May 2026, and that How-to rich results were removed in September 2023. FAQPage and HowTo markup is still valid schema.org and other tools can read it, but do not expect either to change how your page looks in Google.

Checks, formats and escaping

Under the result a table lists every property of the type, who asks for it and whether your lines set it. Values in a wrong format are left out and marked Invalid format: dates must be like 2026-03-04 or 2026-03-04T08:00:00+00:00, URLs must start with http:// or https://, a price is a plain number such as 12.50, and a currency is three letters. A date with a time but no time zone gets a note, because Google says to include one. In the output, a less-than sign followed by a slash is written with a backslash before the slash, and the start of an HTML comment is written as a unicode escape, so text from your lines cannot close the script block early. Both are valid JSON and read back as the original text.

What this tool does not do

It does not crawl your page, check that the markup matches what visitors see, or test the result against every rule in schema.org. Use Google's Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator for that. Markup must describe content that is actually on the page. Reviews and ratings you enter must be real, and the generator cannot check that. One-to-many properties, such as several images or sameAs links, are written as a list, and a repeated property is capped at 100 values. Individual reviews, video, recipes and the other types in Google's gallery are not covered. Everything runs in this tab and the text you type is not saved.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add JSON-LD schema markup to my website?

Copy the script block and paste it into the head or body of the page it describes. It is a script tag of type application/ld+json holding the JSON, so it does not change how the page looks. Use one block per thing described, and test the live page with Google's Rich Results Test.

Does Google still show FAQ rich results?

No. Google's changelog says FAQ rich results stopped appearing in Search on 7 May 2026, after a 2023 change that had limited them to well-known government and health sites. FAQPage markup is still valid schema.org, so adding it does no harm, but it will not give you the dropdown.

Does Google still show How-to rich results?

No. Google removed How-to rich results in September 2023 and stopped showing them on desktop and mobile. The HowTo type still exists in schema.org, and this tool can generate it, but it is not a way to change how a page appears in Google.

What is required for Product schema?

Per Google, a Product needs a name and at least one of offers, review or aggregateRating. An Offer needs a price, and Google recommends priceCurrency, availability and priceValidUntil. An aggregateRating needs ratingValue and either ratingCount or reviewCount. The table shows each of these as Required, Recommended or Optional.

Why was my value left out of the markup?

Its format was wrong and the table marks it Invalid format. Dates must look like 2026-03-04 or 2026-03-04T08:00:00+00:00, URLs must start with http:// or https://, a price must be a plain number like 12.50, and opening hours must look like Mon-Fri 08:00-17:00.

Is my text uploaded?

No. The text is processed in your browser and not uploaded. What you type is not saved; only the type you choose and the display options are kept on this device.
