Cut text into parts every N characters, every N lines or at a delimiter. Nothing leaves your browser.
Every N characters cuts the text into pieces of N characters, with a shorter last piece if the length does not divide evenly. Every N lines groups N lines into each part. At a delimiter cuts the text wherever your delimiter appears and removes the delimiter. N takes whole numbers from 1 to 1,000,000; a value outside that range is moved to the nearest allowed one. The page opens in characters mode with N at 50. The number of parts is shown under the result.
In character mode a character is what you see as one symbol, not a code unit. An emoji, a family emoji built from several emoji, and a letter with a combining accent each count as one, and are never cut in half. A line break inside the text counts as a character and stays inside its part. The text is not trimmed or reflowed, so a part can begin or end with a space where the cut falls. Browsers without grapheme support use a simpler rule that keeps accents, skin tones, flag pairs and joined emoji together, so only a rare combined symbol could be split.
In lines mode, Windows, old Mac and Unix line endings are each read as one break, and the lines of a part are joined with a plain line break. In delimiter mode the delimiter is matched exactly, up to 50 characters, with letter case counted. Characters such as a dot or an asterisk mean themselves, not a pattern. If the delimiter does not appear, the whole text is one part. If the delimiter box is empty, the page asks you to type one. Skip empty parts is on by default and drops parts with nothing in them, such as the gap between two delimiters in a row. A part holding only spaces is not empty. A result that would be over 5,000,000 characters, such as one-character parts of a very long text with headings, is not built; a message asks you to use a larger N.
Each part is shown under a heading, Part 1, Part 2 and so on, with a blank line between parts. Turn the heading toggle off to get only the parts, still separated by a blank line; then a part that itself holds blank lines is harder to tell apart. This page is for cutting by length, lines or a delimiter. For a comma separated list use the delimiter converter, and for joining wrapped paragraph lines use the line break remover. Everything runs in your browser, in this tab. The text is not uploaded, saved or put in the page address. Only your choices are remembered. Text up to 1,000,000 characters is handled.
No. In character mode, an emoji, a flag or a letter with a combining accent counts as one character and stays whole. If your browser cannot group them, it uses a simpler rule that keeps accents and joined emoji together, so only a rare combined symbol could be split.
Choose Every N characters, set N to 100 and paste the text. A 250-character text gives three parts of 100, 100 and 50 characters, each under its own Part heading.
Yes. A delimiter of END does not match end. The delimiter is also literal, so a dot splits at dots and an asterisk splits at asterisks. The delimiter itself is removed from the parts.
You can, with comma as the delimiter, but the delimiter converter is built for it: it trims items, drops empties, adds quotes and writes one item per line or a new separator.
No. The text is processed in your browser, in this tab, and no server receives it. Your mode, N and delimiter are saved in this browser, but the text is not, so closing the tab clears it.
