Set your draft order

Paste team or manager names, pick snake or linear, and get every pick for every round.

How it works

  1. Paste the team or manager names, one per line
  2. Choose the number of rounds and snake or linear
  3. Press the button and copy the draft order

How the order is set

The names are shuffled once to give the order of round 1, and the first name is shown as the first pick. Lines are trimmed, blank lines are skipped, and names that match once case is ignored count once, with a note. You need 2 to 64 names. The result is a table with Pick number, Round and Team for every pick, and the same list as text, grouped by round, ready to paste into a league chat. Pressing the button again redraws the whole order, so copy first if you want to keep one. The last 10 first picks of this visit are listed under the result.

Snake and linear

In a linear draft every round uses the round 1 order. In a snake draft the order reverses every second round, so the team that picks last in round 1 also picks first in round 2. With 3 teams A, B and C and a snake draft, round 1 is A, B, C, round 2 is C, B, A and round 3 is A, B, C again, with picks numbered 1 to 9 across the rounds. Snake evens out the value of early and late picks. Linear keeps the same slot every round. You can set 1 to 30 rounds, so the largest draft has 64 teams and 30 rounds, which is 1,920 picks.

What this tool does not do

It sets the order of picks and nothing else. It does not hold players, run a clock, trade picks or handle a third-round reversal, where round 3 flips as well as round 2. It treats each name as plain text, so it works for fantasy football, baseball or basketball leagues, a school pick order, or any group choosing in turn. If you want matchups between teams instead of an order, the Round Robin Generator and the Tournament Bracket Generator on this site do that.

Randomness and privacy

The shuffle uses your browser's secure random source when available, with the browser's ordinary random function as a fallback. Every possible order of the teams is equally likely. Team names stay in this tab. They are not stored, not sent and not part of any analytics event, and only your round count and draft type are remembered in this browser. The page counts visits with Google Analytics, and a count never includes a name. A draw here is fine for a league among friends. It is not a certified or audited draw.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between snake and linear?

Linear repeats the same order every round. Snake reverses the order every second round, so the last pick of round 1 is the first pick of round 2. With 12 teams, snake gives the team with pick 12 picks 12 and 13 back to back.

Can I redraw the order?

Yes. Press Redraw order to shuffle the teams again. Each press replaces the old order, so copy the text first if you want to keep one. The last 10 first picks of this visit are listed under the result.

How many teams and rounds can I use?

From 2 to 64 teams and from 1 to 30 rounds. A 12-team league with 15 rounds has 180 picks, and all of them are in the table and in the text.

Does it do a third-round reversal?

No. Snake reverses every second round only: round 2, round 4 and so on. Linear and snake are the two choices here.

Are the team names saved or sent anywhere?

No. They stay in this tab and are gone when you close it. Only the round count and draft type are saved in this browser. The page counts visits with Google Analytics, and that never includes a name.
