Convert military time such as 1430 hours to 2:30 PM and back, many lines at once, with a chart of all 24 hours.
To convert military time to standard time, subtract 12 from hours 13 to 23 and add PM, so 1430 becomes 2:30 PM. Hours 0100 to 1159 keep their number and take AM. Two hours are special: 0000 is 12:00 AM (midnight) and 1200 is 12:00 PM (noon). Going the other way, add 12 to a PM hour from 1 to 11, keep AM hours as they are, and write 12 AM as 00. So 5:45 pm becomes 1745 and 12:30 am becomes 0030. Military time is written with four digits and no colon, and often followed by the word hours, as in 0805 hours. The page opens with eight sample lines, so you can see 12-hour times turn into 24-hour and the reverse.
Each line is one time. The reader accepts 1430, 14:30, 14.30, 14h30, 1430h and 1430 hours for the 24-hour clock, and 2:30 pm, 2:30pm, 2.30 p.m., 2 pm and 2p for the 12-hour clock. Seconds are kept if you give them, as in 14:30:15 or 143015. The words noon, midday and midnight work too. A 12-hour time needs an hour from 1 to 12, so 13:30 pm is skipped. A bare number such as 14 is skipped, because it is not clear whether it is an hour. Auto mode converts lines with am or pm to 24-hour and the others to 12-hour. Choose 24-hour or 12-hour to force one direction for every line. Blank lines stay blank, and a line that is not a time says so and does not stop the others.
In the 24-hour system, 00:00 is the start of a day and 24:00 is the end of the same day. Both are midnight on the clock, so the page reads 2400 as 0000 and says so. Some style guides prefer 2359 or 0001 near midnight to avoid the question. In speech, hours are read as hundreds and leading zeros are spoken: 1200 is twelve hundred and 2000 is twenty hundred. This page extends that pattern as one common way to say it: 0800 is zero eight hundred, 1430 is fourteen thirty and 0705 is zero seven zero five. Turn on Add how to say it to get that after each 24-hour time. Units differ in small details, so follow your own organization's usage if it has one.
The converter changes how a clock time is written. It does not shift time zones or dates, so 1430 stays 1430 in the same zone; use the time zone converter for that. A trailing zone letter such as Z in 1430Z is not read, and the line is skipped. It also does not add or subtract durations; for hours between two times use the time duration calculator. Up to 5,000 lines are converted at once. Everything happens in your browser, nothing is saved, and the chart under the result lists all 24 hours in the style you picked.
6:00 PM. Subtract 12 from 18 and add PM. In the same way 1300 is 1:00 PM, 2000 is 8:00 PM and 2359 is 11:59 PM.
Both. 0000 is midnight at the start of a day and 2400 is midnight at its end. This page reads 2400 as 0000 and shows it as 12:00 AM when converting to 12-hour time.
Add 12 to the hour: 5 + 12 = 17, so 5:45 pm is 1745. An AM time such as 9:05 a.m. stays 0905. Paste both lines and Auto mode converts them together.
Zero seven zero five in this page's pattern. 1430 is fourteen thirty and 1200 is twelve hundred. Hours are read as hundreds when the minutes are 00, for example twenty hundred for 2000.
It was not a time the reader knows. 2575 has 75 minutes, 13 pm has an hour above 12 and 14 alone has no minutes. Fix it to a form like 1430 or 2:30 pm and the result updates.
No. The text is processed in your browser and not uploaded. Only your option choices, such as the 24-hour style, are saved on this device; the times you type are not. The page counts that a result appeared, without any of your times.
