Draw, type or scan your signature. Download it transparent.
There are three ways to start. Draw uses a pad that takes a mouse, a finger or a stylus; you can undo the last stroke or clear the pad. Type turns your name into a handwriting style, in six styles, drawn on your device. Upload takes a photo of a signature written in dark ink on plain white paper. A threshold slider decides which pixels count as ink: pixels clearly darker than the threshold become solid ink, pixels in a narrow band just below it fade out, and everything lighter becomes transparent. If the preview shows nothing, lower the threshold. If almost everything turns to ink, raise it. This tool does not remove shadows or uneven light, so take the photo straight on, in even light, on paper without folds.
PNG can store transparency, so a PNG signature has clear pixels around the ink and sits on top of whatever colour the document has. JPEG cannot store transparency, so a JPEG signature is drawn on white. Pick PNG when you paste the signature into a document or a PDF editor. Pick JPEG when a form only accepts JPG files, and expect a white box around the ink. Either way the picture is cut to the ink, then given 16 pixels of empty space on every side, so there is no large blank margin to trim by hand.
Some forms ask for a signature at an exact size, such as 140 by 60 pixels, and under a file size, such as 20 KB. Turn on Exact pixel size and type the width and height. The signature is scaled to fit inside that box, centred, and never stretched, and the rest of the box is transparent for PNG or white for JPEG. It is enlarged by at most two times, so a tiny signature is not blown up into a blur. Then type a Max file size in KB. For JPEG the tool lowers the quality as far as it can to fit, and if that is not enough the result says the file is still over. The pixel size never changes to meet a KB limit. A PNG has no quality setting, so a PNG over the limit stays over it, and the result says so and suggests JPEG on white or a smaller pixel size.
This tool makes a picture of a signature. It does not sign a document, add a certificate, record who signed or when, or check anyone's identity. A picture of a signature is accepted by some forms and refused by others, and whether it counts is decided by the person who asked for it, not by this page. It also does not sign PDFs: you download the image and place it yourself in the program you use. If a contract needs a legally binding electronic signature, use the signing service that the other party names.
The drawing, the typing and the photo are handled by your browser, on a canvas in this tab. Nothing is uploaded, and the fonts are served from this site, not from a font service. The page counts visits with Google Analytics, using rough groups such as a result being created, never the signature, the name you typed or the photo. Remember my signature on this device is off by default. If you turn it on and press Create signature, a small copy of the transparent signature is kept in this browser's storage until you press Forget or Reset. A copy too large to store (about 300 KB of saved text) is not saved. If your browser blocks storage, the option is switched off.
It is a picture, not an e-signature service. It adds no certificate and no record of who signed. Whether a form or an exam portal accepts an image of a signature is up to the one asking, so read the instructions on the form. For a contract that must be legally binding, use the signing service the other party names.
Keep the format on PNG (transparent). Draw or type your signature and download it: the area around the ink is clear. If you start from a photo of paper, use the Upload tab and move the threshold until only the ink is left. JPEG always has a white background, so choose PNG when you need to place the signature over a coloured page.
Turn on Exact pixel size and enter 140 by 60. Type 20 in Max file size, then choose JPEG (white) if the form allows it. For JPEG the tool lowers the quality to get under 20 KB and keeps 140 by 60 pixels; if it cannot get that low, the result says so. A PNG has no quality setting, so if it is over 20 KB the result tells you its size and suggests JPEG.
Not unless you tick Remember my signature on this device and press Create signature. Then a small copy (about 300 KB of saved text at most) stays in this browser only, and the Forget button removes it. The drawing, the name you type and your photo are never uploaded and never sent to analytics.
Type mode offers six handwriting styles: Dancing Script, Great Vibes, Caveat, Allura, Sacramento and Mrs Saint Delafield. Each is published under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, and the files are served from this site's own folder. The licence texts and copyright lines are in a LICENSES.md file next to the font files.
