Pick wide, college, narrow, handwriting or Cornell ruling, add a margin line and a colour, and download a page as a PDF or PNG.
To make printable lined paper, pick a ruling and the tool draws evenly spaced horizontal lines down a full page that you can print at 100 percent. The three standard US rulings are wide ruled at 11/32 inch (8.7 mm), college ruled at 9/32 inch (7.1 mm) and narrow ruled at 1/4 inch (6.4 mm). The lines start one spacing below the top margin and run to the last line that fits above the bottom margin. For example, A4 portrait with the default 10 mm margin leaves 277 mm of height. College ruling puts 38 lines in that space, wide ruling puts 31 and narrow ruling puts 43. On US Letter portrait with the same margin the height is 259.4 mm and college ruling gives 36 lines.
The handwriting ruling is made for learning letter shapes. Each row is 12 mm tall, with a solid line at the top and bottom and a dashed line through the middle, so lower-case letters can be sized between the dashed and bottom lines. The 12 mm row height is this tool's own choice, not a standard. A4 portrait with a 10 mm margin fits 23 rows. The Cornell notes page splits the sheet into a narrow cue column on the left, a wide notes area on the right and a summary box along the bottom. The cue column is 2.5 inches wide and the summary box is 2 inches tall, measured from the printable area. The notes area is ruled at college spacing. These sizes are this tool's layout, and you can print it and write your own headings.
Line colour is any 6-digit hex code, and the default is a light blue-grey that prints clearly without overpowering handwriting. Line weight is 0.25, 0.5 or 1 point. The optional margin line is a red vertical line 25 mm from the left edge of the printable area, drawn at twice the line weight, and it is off for the Cornell page, which has its own dividers. The margin around the page runs from 0 to 30 mm. Many home printers cannot print to the very edge of the paper, so a margin of at least 5 mm keeps the first and last lines from being cut off.
Print the PDF with scaling set to Actual size or 100 percent. If the printer is set to Fit to page, the page shrinks a little and a college ruled line comes out closer than 7.1 mm. Page sizes are A4 (210 by 297 mm) and US Letter (8.5 by 11 in), portrait or landscape. The PNG is made at 200 dots per inch, about 1654 by 2339 pixels on A4. The tool makes one page per download. It has no header fields for name or date, no custom line spacing and no numbered lines. Everything is drawn in this tab from the options you pick, and nothing is uploaded.
Leave Ruling on College ruled, choose A4 and press Download PDF. With the default 10 mm margin you get 38 lines spaced 7.1 mm apart. Print at 100 percent so the spacing stays true.
The line spacing. Wide ruled is 11/32 inch (8.7 mm) and college ruled is 9/32 inch (7.1 mm). Narrow ruled is 1/4 inch (6.4 mm). On A4 with a 10 mm margin that is 31, 38 and 43 lines.
Choose Handwriting. Each 12 mm row gets a solid top and bottom line and a dashed line through the middle. A4 portrait with a 10 mm margin fits 23 rows.
Choose Cornell notes. The page has a 2.5 inch cue column on the left, a notes area ruled at college spacing and a 2 inch summary box at the bottom. On A4 with a 10 mm margin the notes area holds 31 lines.
Yes. Turn off Red margin line on the left. The line sits 25 mm in from the left edge of the printable area, and a Cornell page does not draw it because the cue column divider replaces it.
No. The text is processed in your browser and not uploaded. The PDF and PNG are drawn on your device. The options you choose, such as ruling, colour and page size, are saved in this browser so they are still set next time.
